☝️ Okay wait… if you have layers and your curls always separate or look weird at the ends, try this. A clamp curling iron is honestly the secret. Start where your shortest layers are first, wrap the hair all the way around the barrel before clamping so you don’t get that harsh clamp line, then give it a second to heat up and conform to the iron before you start gliding down. The clamp helps guide all those different layer lengths in the same direction so everything looks softer and more blended instead of choppy. Also ceramic barrels glide sooo much better for this. Just make sure your hair is 100% DRY before styling even if it’s “wet” from product! 🔥 If your hair smells burnt while curling, your iron might be dirty or your hair’s still damp. Clean your tools with alcohol + a rag (after they’ve cooled down) 💨 Yes, I’m saying it again: your hair MUST be 100% dry before you curl it. Damp hair = limp curls. I said what I said. 🎯 Even sections = even curls. Random chunks = random results. I go for 1” sections so everything looks consistent and holds. 📏 Barrel size matters! If your curls keep falling, switch to a smaller barrel or bump up the heat. ‼️@MaggieMH is absolutely right and I seriously think we need to have a real conversation about what’s happening in the hair industry because social media has everybody focused on becoming a six figure hairstylist or building a million dollar salon when being REALLY good at doing hair should still come first. I’ve been licensed almost 10 years and I’m still taking classes because there will always be someone who knows something I don’t. That’s part of being a good hairstylist. I never want my marketing to be better than my talent and I definitely never want my ego to stop me from learning. And yes hairstylists mess up hair. I’ve done it too. The problem isn’t making a mistake. The problem is knowing something went wrong and trying to convince the client that everything is fine instead of being honest and fixing it. If you’re in cosmetology school or you’re a new hairstylist watching people online promise to make you a six figure stylist please remember that followers don’t make you talented and a high price tag doesn’t automatically make someone good at hair. (And some of these people have never even done it themselves!!!! which is why I highly recommend following educators like Maggie if you want reliable education from someone who’s actually a boss in the Industry) you can certainly build the career, grow your following and make tons of money online.
